Liz Earle

Few months back I got this lovely Liz Earle set for my birthday. I’ve been using these products for over a month now and I feel it’s time to review it.

Set contains:
*Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser 100ml
*Instant Boost Skin Tonic 200ml
*Skin Repair Moisturizer 50ml
* Gentle Face Exfoliator 15ml
* Eyebright Soothing Eye Lotion 50ml
*2 x pure muslin cloths

Brand promise:
“Liz Earle Naturally Active Skincare is a Great British beauty brand. We are passionate about all that we do and create products that really work on every skin type by harnessing the potent powers of the finest quality naturally active ingredients.”

The product I‘m going to rave about today is Hot Cloth Cleanser as it is my favourite out of the whole set.

To achieve promised result you get 2 muslin cloths, to use with this produ
ct.
I wasn’t too sure about the whole idea at first, just because I like my cleansing routine to be quick and fuss free. After just one use I was so pleasantly surprised that Hot Cloth Cleanser became my everyday routine.

It has a subtle herbal scent and formula is a non-greasy cream. You massage the cleanser into the dry skin, eyes and neck. Then wet the cloth in hand hot wate
r and gently massage your whole face and neck in circular motions.
I noticed that sometimes products work amazingly for the first few times and then my skin stops reacting to them. But this is different. My skin feels soft, bright and
alive every single day after using it. I found the whole experience very refreshing and relaxing, which is like a blessing after a long day.
The secret’s lying in the muslin cloths. They gently exfoliate the skin and hot water opens up the pores cleansing them a lot deeper. They can be used for maximum 2 days before washing. I stick to this rule, as bacteria can easily sit on them and I don’t wa
nt it transferred onto my skin creating spots.
So it’s best to buy a few of them to have some spear while the others are in the wash. I recommend looking in mother & child shops as they can be a lot cheaper than Liz Earle cloths. My lovely friend also found wash cloths in Poundland! There are 12
little towels for just a £1. They are a bit harsher than muslin cloths so make sure you’re gentle while using them.
Remember also that if you have a lot of spots it’s better to avoid rubbing them with anything. Bacteria from the spot will just move on the other parts of your face.

Here is a quick overview of the other products. They are nice b
ut I don’t think I will purchase again.

Instant Boost Tonic:
*again subtle herbal scent
*gentle and refreshing

Ski Repair Moisturizer:
*thick consistency
*takes a while to absorb into the skin
*best for a night time

Gentle Face Exfoliator:
*cream formula
*very gentle for the skin
*better results when used on dry skin

Soothing Eye Lotion:

*can be used as a make up remover
*nice cooling effect
*reduces puffiness and “wakes up” the eyes
*suitable for contact lens wear

Essie Spring 2011 - A French Affair Collection

I fell in love with the new Essie Spring collection. My first thought when I saw these polishes was “I want them all!”. But when I calmed down and started to think reasonably I settled for this cute set of minis (5ml).

From left: Coat Azure, French Affair, Nice is Nice, Topless and Barefoot.

At first I wasn’t too sure about baby pink and blue polishes just because I’m not a big fun of these colours. I changed my mind as soon as I applied them onto my nails. There is something so flattering, cute and girly about these colours, that you just can’t not like them. You instantly think of Spring and Easter when you look at these pastel shades.
My definite favourite is Topless and Barefoot. It’s a perfect opaque nude that will look very flattering on tanned hands. In fact all of these shades will look even more beautiful against tanned skin.

There is one more shade I would love to try out from this collection. It's Sand Tropez and it's a nude beige-y light brown :)

Have you tried any of the Essie pastels? What do you think of them?

ELF Studio cream eyeliner review

Recently I placed an order on ELF (Eyes Lips Face) website to try out some bargain cosmetics. One of my purchases was black cream eyeliner, from fairly new Studio range, which is meant to be professional quality for fracture of a price. Most of the products from this range cost only £3.50 and that’s how much this eyeliner was (Mac’s fluidline is around £12). What you get is 4.7 grams of product in plastic stylish jar and little angled brush. I’m not sure if plastic packaging is a good or bad thing. It doesn’t screw on tightly enough and I think it is more likely to break than glass, especially when traveling. On the other hand its light weight and at least you know you don’t pay for the packaging, besides at £3.50 who would complain!

I didn’t really like brush that came with it as it is too small to handle and I prefer thin precise eyeliner brushes over an angled ones.

Initially I absolutely hated this product. It was too creamy and my brush was sliding like an ice skate on my lid. Not only I couldn’t control the application but after 5 minutes it smudged all over my eye!

After 2/3 weeks I decided to give it a second chance and the difference was unbelievable. Application was very easy and fast. I had total control over where the product was going, giving me a chance to create very precise line. And most of all it didn’t fade or smudged throughout whole day.

But there is a major concern. If the extreme creaminess was gone after a fortnight then what’s going to happen after one month? Is it going to dry out completely and be unusable? I think quick drying is due to the packaging which is a shame, because product itself is definitely a winner.

So let’s summarize. I would recommend this product because:

*for £3.50 it’s definitely worth a try
*it’s creamy and easy to apply (ones it dries out a bit)
*doesn’t smudge or fade even after 8 hours
*it comes in some fun colours so it’s a cheap way to experiment
*perfect for those who just want to practice their eyeliner application

Have you tried any of the ELF products yet? What’s your opinion?
